Care Tips for Collectibles & Light Kits

Fusion Reactors - Care Tips for Collectibles & Light Kits

At Fusion Reactors, we’re collectors first. Our goal is to help you enjoy your Hot Toys and other 1/6 collectibles with reliable lighting and USB power, while keeping your figures safe for years to come. Use the guidelines below to get the best results from both your figures and your Fusion light kits.

1. Display Environment

To protect both your collectible and your light kit:
• Keep everything in a temperature-controlled room. Avoid extreme heat, cold, or humidity. Don’t display figures or light kits in direct sunlight, next to windows with strong UV, or near fireplaces, heaters, or A/C vents.
• Avoid moisture and dust. Enclosed displays (like Detolf or cabinets) help prevent dust, moisture, and accidental knocks.
• Use a stable, level surface. Make sure shelves, cabinets, and tables are sturdy so figures and wiring aren’t stressed or knocked over.

2. Posing & Handling Your Collectibles

Your figures are designed to pose, but materials can still wear over time:
• Silicone / seamless bodies: For 1/6 figures with silicone “skin” or seamless joints, avoid leaving them in extreme or twisted poses long-term. A relaxed “museum pose” is safest for the material.
• Joints & accessories: Move joints slowly and support the limb with your other hand when posing. Avoid forcing tight joints while wires, lightsabers, or blasters are attached.
• Paint & finishes: Painted parts can rub or transfer if pressed against other painted surfaces or tight holsters. 1/6 lightsaber hilts and accessories may experience light paint transfer when held by figures or gripped tightly. This is normal for painted collectibles and is not considered a defect. Avoid dragging accessories across painted areas or hard surfaces.

3. Storage

If you need to pack away your figure or light kit:
• Use the original packaging where possible. The foam and inserts are designed to support the parts safely during storage or moving.
• Store in a cool, dry place. Avoid attics, garages, or damp areas where temperature and humidity fluctuate.
• Keep cables tidy. Coil USB cables loosely—do not kink or sharply bend them, especially near connectors.

4. Cleaning Your Collectible

For general cleaning:
• Use a soft microfiber cloth or a soft detailing brush to remove dust from figures and accessories.
• If needed, slightly dampen the microfiber cloth with clean water and gently wipe — never soak the figure or light kit.
• Avoid chemical cleaners, alcohol, solvents, or glass cleaner on painted or plastic parts. These can damage paint and plastics over time.
• Do not spray liquids directly onto the figure, light kit, or inside display cabinets.

5. Using Your USB Light Kit / Dummy Battery Converter

Power requirements:
• Use a 5V power adaptor with around 2A output (standard USB power).
• Do not use fast-charging or high-voltage adaptors (for example, 9V or 12V quick-charge modes).

Basic setup:
1. Insert the dummy batteries: Place the dummy cell into the battery compartment, matching the red (+) and black (–) terminals to the correct ends. Start by placing the dummy on the spring side at about a 45° angle. Use a small flat tool gently if needed, then push it fully into place with your finger.
2. Check the switch: Make sure the figure’s original light switch is turned on and contacts are touching correctly.
3. Connect the cable: Run the cable so it exits cleanly (for example, near a screw area or corner) to avoid pinching. Close the compartment carefully—firmly but not with excessive force.
4. Connect to power: Plug the USB cable into your 5V power adaptor. Do not swap cables between different kits unless they are specifically designed to use a standard USB plug and you know they are compatible.

6. Safety & Usage Guidelines

To keep your kit and figures safe:
• Supervision: Do not leave LEDs or light kits on unattended. We recommend using the lights for up to 3 hours at a time while you are nearby.
• Children: Fusion light kits are not toys and not suitable for children under 15. Keep small parts, wires, and dummy cells away from young children.
• Cables & connectors: Do not pull on the cable to remove it—grip the plug, not the wire. Avoid bending or twisting cables sharply, especially near connectors. Do not crush cables under heavy furniture or cabinet doors.
• Wiring safety: Never let black and red wires touch each other (this can short the circuit). Stop using the device immediately if you notice flickering, unusual light behaviour, sudden colour changes, heat, smell, or any sign of damage.
• LED usage: LED lights should not be left on unattended or for excessively long periods. Follow our runtime recommendations to protect both the kit and your display.

7. Care Tips for Guns, Blasters, Lightsabers & Small Light-Up Accessories

For all Fusion-lit weapons and accessories (guns, blasters, lightsabers, rifles, small props):
• Avoid dropping or impact. These pieces are small and can be damaged by falls or strong knocks, especially if LEDs and wires run through them.
• Be mindful of paint contact. Holsters, hands, and straps can rub paint off over time. Paint transfer between hand sculpts and weapons is normal with regular posing and is not considered a defect.
• Shape protection: Don’t force a weapon or lightsaber into a hand that’s too tight—soften the grip gently instead of jamming it in. Avoid bending long barrels, blades, or antennas; the inner LED or fibre can be damaged.
• Detolf / cabinet lighting: Ensure cables are routed neatly along corners or supports so doors don’t pinch them. Avoid having LEDs pressed directly against painted surfaces or plastics long-term; a small gap is ideal.

8. Troubleshooting Basics

If your light kit is not working as expected:
1. Check dummy batteries and contacts: Confirm all dummy cells are fully inserted and the original switch is turned on and contacts are touching correctly.
2. Check the compartment closure: If the compartment is closed too tightly, it can pull dummy cells away from contacts. Close with a gentle, controlled push, not force.
3. Check the power: Try a different 5V, 2A adaptor and/or USB port. Verify the cable is plugged in firmly at both ends.
4. Look for visible damage: Check for pinched, cut, or exposed wires. If you see damage, stop using the kit immediately and contact us.

9. Recommended Power & Accessories

• Power adaptor: 5V, 2A output (not included).
• Cables: Standard USB 2.0 (or USB-C where specified).
Avoid high-voltage quick-charge ports and low-quality adaptors that may not deliver stable 5V output.
